I was saddened to read of the passing of Ron Plunkett. He was a young member of Curzon House when I knew him in 1946 . His cousin Jim Lee also of Curzon House 1942. Informed me that Ron retired from the Police Force as a Chief Superintendent. My condolences to his wife and family. Rest in peace Ron.

Forwarding you Jim Lee’s email to me regarding his cousin Ron Plunkett of Curzon House in the 1944 –45 era. I knew Ron as a young fellow in the Curzon sports team in 1946. A fine young fellow. If possible could you include his passing in the Old Cottonians web page. We would much appreciate it. Thanks …..Best wishes…..Dick.

Subject: Sad News!!
Hi Guys,

Just a quick note to let you know that Ron Plunkett passed away yesterday, Saturday, February 4th. We got a telephone call this morning from Pauline, Ron’s wife, giving us the sad news. She said that Ron’s passing was a blessing because he had absolutely no quality of life. Ron’s family were at his bedside, and Pauline said that she was thankful for their support.

Dick, it would be nice if Ron’s passing was announced in the OC magazine. I am afraid I don’t have the details of his tenure at BCS, but he was a young fellow when he joined, and he graduated from the school. Would you mind, Dick, passing this news on to Advani who probably can get the details from the school records. Ron was in Curzon House, and was, I believe, one of Baby Hawkes’ pugilists on the school team. At his death Ron was 83 years old.

When he graduated from BCS he enlisted as a paratrooper, and when demobbed joined the Metropolitan Police Force in Britain, retiring with the rank of Inspector.

Thanks, and Cheers, Jim

I remember Plunkett as tough & a tall guy who, to the best of my knowledge, was the first to do the plunge in the School swimming pool- all 48′ 3″ of it & he held that record for quite some time.
I had just joined the School in 1950, which was his last year in School.

( Incidentally L.J. Homer was our House Captain in 1950 – so he was there till 1950 & not 1949).
