My heartfelt condolences to the Verghuese family on the passing of Ma’am. The photograph of Lefroy House congregated with Head Master Dustan, House Master Mr Verghese and Ma’am bring back a rush of memories of what these noble humble souls taught us at our Bishop Cotton School. I am sitting on the ground slightly to the left of Ma’am, a six year old , sixth from the right..
The photograph ( circa 1962) shows stillness and quietness that comes with integrity and character being formulated inside every Cottonian. Every passing day shows how precious we all are… Cottonians!

I remember them both vividly and with great affection. She taught me Arithmetic when I was 7 and gave me extra lessons at their house if I had difficulties. He was a Physics teacher, par excellence, in the senior school. I still remember virtually everything they taught me.

“The people who really make a difference are not what they say to you but how they make you feel”. You belong to an age that slowly that slowly goes into oblivion. Many of us were all lucky to be part of that era because todays ones have not and will never experience that age ever. RIP Mrs Varughese.
